| WAT was the Secretariat for the Habitat International Women and Shelter Network. |
WAT was established to promote the advancement of women through education, skills training, research, information dissemination, seminars, workshops, production and distribution of informational booklets, fliers and brochures and by encouraging self-reliance among women.
WAT was established on July 28, 1989 as a non-governmental, non-profit organization.
